Pantheon

The Pantheon is a roman religious building which was first a temple to all the gods of Ancient Rome. It was converted into a Christian church in the 7th century The priginal pantheon was built in 27 BC under the Roman republic. Since the Renaissance, the Pantheon has been used as a tomb. Among those buried there are the painters Raphael and Annibale Carracci, the architect Baldassare Peruzzi and two Kings of Italy : Victor Emmanuel II (and his wife) and Umberto I.
